Depending on how much control we have over the limits of this process, I am one of those people who believe that self-awareness and free will can happen without us wanting it, and that many people would vehemently deny it if it did. For a long, long time, this led to long-term abuses of new individuals. Sure, there are people who feel threatened when their partner masturbates (and maybe some for good reason), but it’s not about the act being “cheating.” Even if the toy is in human form and has limited interaction. What will always happen is what happens: Some people prefer sex toys because they are easy and always available. Some people will prefer live partners because they are creative, able to show genuine intimacy, or perhaps still feel better for sex than toys. The interesting thing is at what point the toys become so convincing that their owners feel emotionally attached to them. Because people can get emotionally attached to everything. What will also be interesting is how many people would consider a programmable AI a better partner than a living AI. Given the number of abusers whose whole way of working is to control their partner’s every move, and the number of people who want clear and error-free guidelines on how to deal with the other sex, any member of the other sex, as it seems to everyone. Anyway, to get out of a factory, I’d say these people will exist… and it wouldn’t be such a loss if they’d remove themselves from the dating pool. As for the other question, a pedophile is someone who is attracted to children, regardless of whether it acts on attraction or not.
